LET PEOPLE BE WHO THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE....

Epiphanies happen all the time when you are MATURING...

Epiphany moment is when I decided to STOP getting upset and angry at people for being and doing what they are supposed to do....

Liars are supposed to LIE
Hates are supposed to HATE
Procrastinators are supposed to Procrastinate
Underachievers are supposed to Underachieve
Losers are supposed to Lose
People who double talk are supposed to double talk
Ignorant people do and say ignorant things

The sooner we learn how to accept certain things, the better we know how to deal with people....

WHAT HE SAID....PASTOR JAMAL BRYANT (REGARDING HIS ALLEGED IMPREGNATION OF A MINOR IN EBONY MAGAZINE)

For 67 years Ebony Magazine has been the drum beat for culture in the African American community. John Johnson its beloved founder dedicated his life to safe guarding our image with great integrity.

The March 2013 edition has left a hole in my heart. On page 124 they published that it’s alleged I impregnated a 17-year-old member of my church. This accusation is categorically and completely untrue. To publish this with absolutely no source lends itself to reckless endangerment to my children, my congregation and my community.
Ebony is not the National Enquirer. A higher standard is required and the statement jeopardizes my ministry to the youth in my church and community. So it is on moral grounds that a retraction is necessary.

In 2007 I participated in an extramarital affair that resulted ultimately in the termination of my marriage to my incredible wife Gizelle. NO minors were involved but my minor children have been affected. I don’t want them to have to live through any further unnecessary pain.
Matthew 18:15 say’s if your brother has sinned against you go and tell him his fault. I solicit your continued prayers for my family, forgiveness for myself and accountability from Ebony magazine.

Flawed but faithful. I remain,
Jamal- Harrison Bryant

WHAT HE SAID.....REV RUN ON BEYONCE AND JAY Z....

Those were the parallels for me, “The Book of Ruth” and Beyonce and Jay-Z because she captured the ultimate pimp. She out-pimped him. She’s so smart and feminine, that she was smart enough to name the new upcoming tour Mrs. Carter. The world tour is Mrs. Carter. She gon’ keep his ego in check like, ‘I gotta come home to this n—a.” So, it’s like you be cool running around with Kanye, but know the name of the tour is Mrs. Carter. I’m Mrs. Carter. So that’s the balance. It’s being feminnine but having a little life on your hands and being kind of busy but not too busy. Be ready to name your tour Mrs. whoever you’re trying to get with.

WHAT HE SAID....CLIVE DAVIS ON HIS BISEXUALITY....

"After my second marriage failed, I met a man who was also grounded in music. Having only had loving relationships and sexual intimacy with women, I opened myself up to the possibility that I could have that with a male, and found that I could."
Davis is currently involved with another man (who isn't in show business), "but I never stopped being attracted to women. Bisexuality is misunderstood; the adage is that you're either straight or gay or lying, but that's not my experience. To call me anything other than bisexual would be inaccurate."

CAN YOU DATE SOMEONE WITHOUT LYING??

A lot of people become cynical about love and relationships because they usually bring some type of conflict. The way you handle that conflict lets you know a lot about your long-term potential. A common issue is honesty. That seems to trip a lot of people up.

Why is it so difficult to be honest and have full disclosure when you are dating someone? If you ask a question, why is it difficult to get a real answer? My friend Sean says that you can’t date someone without lying. Whether it is lying by omission, half-truths, or little white lies- it is something we just contend with in dating and relationships to make it work.

Do you agree?
I have a hard time believing that a good relationship can operate with lies. I definitely don’t want a dating relationship to start based on lies! Maybe I’m being unrealistic? How hard is it to hear the truth?
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

ONE PROFESSIONAL BLACK MAN'S VIEW ON DATING WHITE WOMEN.....

People find it surprising when I tell them I’ve never dated a white woman. And besides that one road trip, I’ve never seen a white woman naked. But we all know that if it doesn’t happen in the state you live in then it doesn’t count. When I break it down to them, they start to get a clearer picture into how this came to be. Allow me to set the backdrop.

I grew up in a predominantly black inner city neighborhood. My high school was approximately 95% African-American. I attended a HBCU for my undergraduate as well as my graduate training so its safe to say that it’s not as if I’ve been exposed to even a bushel of Anglo-Saxon women. That being said, getting on an elevator at work and watching a woman clutch her purse tighter, even though I have an ID badge that clearly says Dr. Tunde A___________, bothers me. I don’t have experience working with other races this closely.

Even if I were interested in white women, my conscience wouldn’t allow me to pursue one. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a fan of history, all history but mainly African/African-American history so allow me to give you a history lesson.

The use of violence to end Reconstruction in the South, and the eventual implementation of Jim Crow in its place, was the result of two needs of Whites during that era.

1.The need for white men to re-establish supremacy over what they considered an inferior race.

2.To protect the innocence and chastity of white women everywhere.

In regards to the second reason, white men viewed black men as sex crazed beasts that were incapable of controlling their sexual urges. Never mind the fact that the number of black men who raped white women during slavery (probably close to zero) paled in comparison to the number of white men who raped black women slaves. Delicate white women had to be saved from black savages; because you know, God-forbid mixed children be born out of that union.

Imagine the fear of white fathers during the modern Civil Rights era that had to imagine their white daughters sitting in class next to black boys. I imagine that if public schools were integrated with only Black girls and not boys the opposition might not have been so great. There would have still been opposition. Embracing an ideal of racism and domination doesn’t readily allow one to distinguish between a subset (man or woman) of a group you feel superior to.

Knowing what I know about how black men were viewed, especially when it came to white woman, I can take two courses of action when it comes to them: choose to spit in the face of age-old fears and contempt from white men at the thought of black men with white women, or realize that despite everything we’ve been through I still prefer Black women to all others.

I’m going with the latter.

STATE OF THE UNION.....FEBRUARY 2013

RAISE THE FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE TO $9 PER HOUR......MORE REASON TO LOVE PRESIDENT OBAMA.....

President Obama laid out a proposal to increase the federal minimum wage to $9 during Tuesday night's State of the Union address. The idea is sure to have a big impact on the foodservice industry, which employs about 13 million people, many of whom make the current $7.25 level.

"Today, a full-time worker making the minimum wage earns $14,500 a year. Even with the tax relief we've put in place, a family with two kids that earns the minimum wage still lives below the poverty line. That's wrong," the President said. "That's why, since the last time this Congress raised the minimum wage, 19 states have chosen to bump theirs even higher."

At the start of the New Year alone, the minimum wage increased in 10 states, most between 10 cents and 35 cents per hour, or an extra $200 to $500 per year.

Washington now has the highest minimum wage in the country, at $9.19/hour. On the federal level, minimum wage has remained at $7.25 since 2009. There are 31 states that don't mandate a cost-of-living adjustment, a key missing piece addressed by President Obama.

"Let's declare that in the wealthiest nation on Earth, no one who works full-time should have to live in poverty, and raise the federal minimum wage to $9 an hour. This single step would raise the incomes of millions of working families. It could mean the difference between groceries or the food bank; rent or eviction; scraping by or finally getting ahead. For businesses across the country, it would mean customers with more money in their pockets. In fact, working folks shouldn't have to wait year after year for the minimum wage to go up while CEO pay has never been higher. So here's an idea that Governor Romney and I actually agreed on last year: let's tie the minimum wage to the cost of living, so that it finally becomes a wage you can live on," he said during Tuesday's SOTU.

The minimum wage has been the focus of a handful of protests by foodservice employees in cities such as New York and Chicago within the past few months. New York's efforts have even spawned a "Fast Food Forward" movement.

A bill was introduced by Democrats in the House and Senate last year that would have raised the federal rate to $9.80 per hour and indexed the wage to inflation, however the bills failed and are unlikely to pass if reintroduced to a Republican-controlled House, according to a late-December story in the Huffington Post. Additionally, some have expressed concern that the proposal doesn't address wage issues for tipped employees, another big chunk of the restaurant industry.
Saru Jayaraman, National Labor Leader and co-director of Restaurant Opportunities Centers (ROC) United, responded Tuesday to President Obama's call for a minimum wage increase, saying: "It's wonderful that President Obama backed raising the federal minimum wage tonight. But that alone won't help all low wage workers. The President must also call on Congress to ensure that this Congress' minimum wage increase bill includes an increase for tipped workers — which has been frozen at $2.13 an hour since 1991. Then, and only then, can we ensure that all workers earn a fair day's pay for a hard day's work."

Jayaraman and other members of ROC United with join Rep. Donna F. Edwards for a Capitol Hill briefing today on the reintroduction of the WAGES act. The legislation would raise the tipped minimum wage to $3.75 per hour over the first three months, with incremental increases and adjustments after that period.

WHAT SHE SAID....VIOLA DAVIS.....(SINGLE LADIES PLEASE READ)

Oscar nominee Viola Davis has the secret for lonely women who are looking for a husband to complete them: Prayer.

Page Six reports that Davis, 47, revealed her secret at the premiere for her latest movie, “Beautiful Creatures.”

“The Help” star told Page Six, “I was the loneliest woman in the world, and someone said, ‘You should just pray for a husband.’”

So Davis got down on her knees and prayed.

“I said I wanted a big black man from the South who looked like a football player, who already had children, who maybe had been married before… 3 1/2 weeks later I met my husband,” Davis said.

Davis wed 59-year-old actor and former college football player Julius Tennon in 2003. They adopted a baby girl, Genesis, last year.

THE BEST WAY TO BREAK UP.....

I saw a really sweet video of a couple who broke up, wrote a song about it, then filmed a music video about it. This is Breaking Up 2.0 people. The mature, totally hip and cool way to end a relationship, complete with a video that goes viral.
If only all break ups can be so thoughtful and coordinated. I’d settle for just making it mutual! There really is no right or wrong way to break up a relationship. There is a way to make it as painless as possible, though. Clearly, sleeping with someone else or sending a random text message does not qualify as painless. Yet, I know two people who were dumped in this way recently.
Breaking up is hard to do, but does it really have to be? What is the most humane and kind way to dump someone? Should the length of time you were together make a difference in how you should end things?

GET INTO THE LYRICS.....

I'm the best friend he's got
I'd give him the shirt off my back
He knows he can trust me with his life
But each time he leaves me alone
Leaves me alone with his wife

I wish he didn't trust me so much
I think he really trust me too much

How can he be so blind?
We've both got the same good taste
He should know when he's gone
Gone on his business trips
Can't help watchin' his woman 'cause I'm losin' my grip

I wish he didn't trust me so much
I think he really trust me too much

Though I swear, all is not my will
But there's a way, there's a way she make me feel
Lord, I'm scared, so scared of what I do
If she starts feeling the same way too

I wish he didn't trust me so much
I think he really trust me too much

It's not that she leads me on
I'm getting there all by myself
But just being with her all, all alone
I can't help but hopin' that he never comes home

I wish he didn't trust me so much
I think he really trust me too much

We got a problem
I think he really trust me too much

Though I swear, all is not my will
But there's somethin' about the way, the way she makes me feel
Lord, I'm so scared, scared of what I do
If she starts feeling the same way too

I wish he didn't trust me so much
I think he really trust me too much

You can see, I'm caught up
Caught up in the middle
And I'm tired, tired of playing second fiddle

I wish he didn't trust me so much
I think he really trust me too much

An epiphany (from the ancient Greek ἐπιφάνεια, epiphaneia, "manifestation, striking appearance") is an experience of sudden and striking realization. Generally the term is used to describe breakthrough scientific, religious or philosophical discoveries, but it can apply in any situation in which an enlightening realization allows a problem or situation to be understood from a new and deeper perspective.
